Teacher Development Academy

The Teacher Development Academy at ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app (TDA@ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app) will provide coursework toward certification for K-12 emergency and alternative certified teachers. Each of these courses will count toward OSDE certification coursework requirements for early childhood, elementary, and secondary teachers only. The course dates are provided below. This program is not appropriate for teachers pursuing special education, early childhood, or elementary education certification. This is only for secondary education (middle school and high school teachers).

The Summer 2026 TDA dates will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, June 1-25. No ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app Friday-Sunday. Enrollment for the summer cohort will open Monday, March 2, 2026.

GRED 6323 Teaching Methods Across the Curriculum (Pedagogy) 

For those wishing to earn the ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app Reaching and Teaching All Learners Certificate, the Teaching Diverse Learners course will be offered 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, June 29-July 9.

There is no virtual option. Attendance is required at all ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app and course grades are impacted by absences. 

All ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app will meet in person at ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app in the Petree College of Arts & Sciences in ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app City. 

Instructions for emergency or alternative certified teachers who are interested in participating:

 Apply for Admission to ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app:

  • Go to https://okcu.force.com/ERx_Forms__Portal_Register
  • Select ‘graduate’ as your student type.
  • Select ‘Graduate Certificate in Reaching and Teaching All Learners’ as your program
  • Select ‘Summer 2026’ as your term
  • List every college/university attended in the academic history section.
  • Use the fee waiver code ºìÐÓÖ±²¥appGRAD26  (code is case sensitive) to waive the $60 application fee
  • Order official transcripts from each university you have attended (even if you didn't earn a degree there).
    • Please note:  Official transcripts can be ordered through Parchment, National Clearinghouse, or by mail. If using electronic transcripts, please select ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app City University or [email protected] as the recipient. If you are mailing transcripts, please use the address below.

Once you have been admitted, you will be enrolled in the appropriate courses. Only the first 36 eligible teachers will be admitted to the Teacher Development Academy at ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app for summer, so you are encouraged to apply for and complete the admissions process as soon as possible.

What courses are included in the Teacher Development Academy?

The TDA@ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app will include 2 three-hour graduate-level courses, GRED 6523 Classroom Management and Collaboration and GRED 6323 Teaching Methods Across the Curriculum.

Is this program appropriate for teachers pursuing special education, early childhood, or elementary education certification?

No. ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app is not accredited to prepare special education, early childhood, or elementary education teachers, so the OSDE will not accept our courses for certification purposes. 

What if I only need one of the courses offered?

Participants can enroll in one or two of the available courses. 

How many hours of "seat time" will the TDA@ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app offer?

TDA@ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app will include 45 hours of seat time per three-hour course.

What if I need to miss a day of the program?

We understand that schedules offer challenges but expect program participants to be present for all ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app. Any absences will have a negative impact on your final grade. If an emergency arises and you must miss all or part of a day, you will be provided a make-up assignment.

Where will the program be held?

All ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app will meet in person at ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app in the Petree College of Arts & Sciences in ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app City.

Do I need to enroll at ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app to participate?

Yes, all participants of TDA@ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app will enroll as a graduate student.

What will I need to enroll?

You will need a copy of your official college transcript(s) from your degree granting institution(s). You will also need a copy of your immunization records.
